Israeli startup Water.io began with high-tech Reminder caps and branched out to connected bottle closures that benefit both consumer and manufacturer.


A teenage girl with a mysterious malady motivated the June 2015 establishment of Israeli smart packaging innovator Water.io. Her father and two of his friends cofounded the company after the mystery was solved.

Three important new reasons to love the pomegranate

From a supplement protecting against neurodegeneration, to a study indicating the juice can reduce brain damage in embryos, pomegranate research is peaking in Israel.


The regal-looking pomegranate, ruby-red with a crown on top, ripens on Israeli trees just in time to decorate Jewish New Year holiday tables in early autumn. Each fruit has hundreds of edible juicy seeds, called arils, traditionally equated to the 613 commandments in the Torah.

New laser solution could slow spread of forest fires

Fighting Treetop Fire is developing a system of removing combustible foliage with algorithm-controlled laser beams controlled via helicopter or truck.


Aggressive wildfires are rampaging through many countries this summer, bringing death and destruction in their wake. In California alone, firefighters are scrambling to control 18 separate blazes.
